2010 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER

The 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser ranks 4 out of 10 Luxury Large SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 22 published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Land Cruiser, and our analysis of reliability and safety data. The Toyota Land Cruiser is well-mannered on-road and ruggedly capable when the pavement ends. With its strong combination of on-road refinement and off-road chops, the Toyota Land Cruiser is a good choice for buyers who want a luxury SUV, but who also want to go off-road. In fact, reviewers say the Land Cruiser shoots right down the middle and hits its mark. Its ride and handling are plush but composed. Thanks to its powerful V8 engine, the Land Cruise scoots better than its size might suggest and gets gas mileage that's about average for the class (though no SUV in the class has gas mileage that could be considered good).Still, the Land Cruiser stands out in one way: in a class full of vaunted marquees like Land Rover and Mercedes, the Land Cruiser is a humble Toyota. However, when the chips are down, the Land Cruiser competes well with its more-pedigreed competition. Reviewers like how it drives and its cushy interior. Taken as a whole, the Land Cruiser stands up well to the competition, even as consumers move away from full-size SUVs. Still some reviewers question if this Toyota's capabilities are worth its price tag,

LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER

The 2010 Land Rover Range Rover ranks 4 out of 10. This ranking is based on our analysis of 62 published reviews and test drives of the Land Rover Range Rover, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.Built for traversing an empire, the 2010 Land Rover Range Rover continues the tradition of uncompromising off-road abilities coupled with unparalleled luxury.Land Rovers have always been vehicles with a large dose of luxury cachet. For 2010, updates to the Land Rover Range Rover have made the company's flagship model more powerful, more capable and more luxurious. The changes have been so well-received that it's tough to find a reviewer who has anything remotely negative to say about the Rover.Range Rover built its reputation on remote trails, and the 2010 Range Rover continues to astound reviewers with its rugged capabilities. What's more astounding is that, unlike other off-road SUVs, the Range Rover has very good on-road performance as well. Two new engines -- one of which makes over 500 horsepower -- give the Range Rover the power it needs in any situation. Handling and braking are so good that the Range Rover is as at home on the freeway or in the city as it is on rock-strewn trails. Inside, reviewers say the cabin lives up to the Range Rover's nearly $80,000 price tag.The one quibble reviewers raise about the Range Rover is Land Rover's reputation for poor reliability. While Tata Motors, the company that recently bought Land Rover, has promised to improve reliability, it's too early to tell if improvements have been made

2011 Porsche Boxster Black Edition

Porsche is now offering the Black Edition treatment for the Boxster,S which will be limited to 987 units across the world, and which will go on sale in around two months.
Exterior tweaks include black paint, a black set of the Boxster Spyder’s lightweight 19in alloys, black ‘Boxster S’ lettering on the rear luggage compartment lid, ‘Black Edition’ script on the black fabric hood, plus black roll bars, black air intakes, and black exhaust pipes.
The same monochrome look from its 911 sibling dominates the interior. The seats—available either as cloth with leather accents or fully wrapped in cowhide—are all black, as are the instruments and the trim on the dashboard and center console.A badge on the glovebox lets you know which of the 987 cars you’ve bought, while sat-nav, Bluetooth, an upgraded stereo and bi-xenon lamps are standard.
As is typical of a Porsche sportscar, at the heart of the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition beats a flat-six ‘boxer’ engine.Mounted in front of the rear axle behind the seats, the 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine is similar to that fitted to the Boxster S , with direct fuel injection for greater power and efficiency. In the Black Edition its output is 320 hp – 10 hp more than in the Boxster S. The revised engine reaches its rated power at 7,200 rpm, the Boxster S power pack at 6,400 rpm.Peak torque of 370 Nm – boosted by 10 Newton metres – is available at 4,750 rpm.
With its standard six-speed manual transmission, it accelerates from 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds, a tenth of a second faster than the Boxster S. This extra performance has not been achieved at the expense of fuel economy, however, for the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition contents itself with as much fuel as the Boxster S: 28.8 mpg Combined (NEDC).
The Porsche Boxster S Black Edition goes on sale in the UK and Ireland from March 2011 and is priced from £47,426.Included in the purchase price is the invitation for customers to explore the dynamic attributes of their Boxster and develop their own skills behind the wheel, courtesy of a Driving Experience Programme at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.

Nissan Patrol 2010

Nissan Patrol 2010 launched in Abu Dhabi

The all-new 2010 Nissan Patrol was launched on February 13th, at a VIP event in Abu Dhabi. While we didn’t go, information is already trickling down on the net about the redesigned Patrol.
The 2010 Nissan Patrol is powered by a 400 hp 5.6-litre V8 with 560 Nm, with features such as “VVEL” variable-valve timing and “DIG” direct injection, and mated to a 7-speed automatic. A variable 4×4 Mode package allows switching between four drive modes: sand, on-road, rock and snow, with the flick of a switch. And a “Hydraulic Body Motion Control” system is available, seemingly a fancy term for four-wheel independent air suspension. Also available are an electronic locking rear differential, hill start and hill descent control, as well as lane-departure warning, automatic braking and stability control.

While there is no written mention of a lower engine option anywhere, one presentation even spoke of a base 317 hp 5.6-litre V8 with 521 Nm of torque, a possible carryover engine from the outgoing Armada. We also found out that there are two minor exterior variants, with the lower models getting a simpler offroad-friendly front bumper and the top model getting a fancier-moulded “city” front bumper.

The 2010 Patrol is can be outfitted as a full luxury SUV, with climate-controlled leather seats, Arabic-supported HDD navigation, wide WVGA 8-inch touchscreen, multi-screen DVD entertainment system, 9.3GB Music Box hard drive, Bluetooth, power rear liftgate, keyless start, adaptive cruise control, around-view cameras, and a centre console cool-box that can be opened from both 1st & 2nd-row seats. A Nissan first is the Off-road Monitor that provides real-time information such as tyre conditions involving steer angle, slip and pressure.

We will briefly touch the 2010 Patrol on February 15th at an event in Dubai. The luxury 4×4 is rumoured to go on sale in the UAE in a month or two, at prices between Dhs 180,000 to Dhs 270,000, with the outgoing model continuing to be on sale in a stripped-down trim for real offroad enthusiasts.
