Volkswagen new XL1 Super Efficient Vehicle 2011

Volkswagen will unveil the third and latest iteration of its two-seater diesel-electric hybrid concept series, the enew XL1 Super Efficient Vehicl (SEV) at this week’s Qatar Motor Show.The prototype makes its world debut at the 2011 Qatar Motor Show (26-29 January, 2011).
Powering the carbon fiber shell is a plug-in diesel hybrid powertrain, using a 2-cylinder TDI motor with 48-hp, mated to a 27-hp electric motor and using a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Engine of Volkswagen XL1 has managed to further improve the car’s fuel economy to a staggering 0.9 lt/100 km, equal to 261 mpg US and 313 mpg UK while emitting a mere 24 g/km of CO2.
The XL1 has a more dynamic appearance, with a typical radiator grille, electrically controlled air intakes, new headlamps with LED technology, and fully covered rear wheels to prevent air turbulence.
Weight of Volkswagen XL1 Concept just just 795 kg or 1,752 pounds, thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials throughout including Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer parts for the body, magnesium for the wheels, ceramics for the brake discs and aluminium for dampers, steering system and brake calipers.
